Mike enjoying himself with Jack Hawkins and others and receiving a cocktail cabinet presented to him at the Cafe Royal, London, from the National Sporting Club. This was just 60 hours before he died. You can see the preview news video these stills came from at our British Pathe Archive link. There is also coverage of his death there.

On January 22nd 1959, Mike Hawthorn was killed after a major crash in his Jaguar Mk 1 on the Guildford bypass.

He was 29 years old.
